What Is an Instant Album
Instant albums are collections of quick pages that are co-ordinated to give a scrapbook album a unified theme. They are a wonderful time saver and an ideal addition to computer scrapbooking colections.

Quick pages are scrapbook layouts that are completely finished except for the pictures, journal and titles. All the design work is done including the layout , papers and embellishments. These albums are very useful for the beginner to computer scrapbooking as well as for those that do not have much time but want to preserve their families memories in a professional and beautiful way.
Vacation, birthday and holiday memories are just some examples of pictures that are perfect for instant albums. The Quick pages can be used over and over. Adding different pictures, embellishments and journaling completely changes the look. It is possible to complete many albums in an afternoon with one or two instant album packages.
How To Use an Instant Album
All instant album quick pages form Digi Scrappers Corner are in PNG format. Photo editing software that supports PNG and layers is necessary to add your pictures to the quick page. Photo Shop Elements or Photoshop are examples of software that the instant album will work with but there are many others.
To use, open the quick page in photo editing software. Drag the photos to be used on the layout underneath the quick page layer. Position each photo in a picture opening and re size or crop as necessary.
Sometimes there will be a spot meant for a journal on the quick page. If this is the case, add text above the quick page layer. Position the text in the journal area.
If no specific area for a journal has been provided, a journal can be added by placing text above the quick page layer and positioning where desired. Text could also be added to a tag and dragged on the layout and placed above the quick page layer.
Add a title and other elements if desired. Layer titles and embellishments above the quick page layer.
That’s it! The first page of the album is finished. Repeat for additional pages, print and show of your album! This is truly computer scrapbooking at its best!

i just started doing my scrapbooking on the computer and i usually do 12+12 sheets but my printer doesn't print pages that big any ideas?
If I understand you correctly, your pages are 12" x 12" in size. If that is so, there is only one consumer printer that will print 12 x 12 borderless prints, and that is the Epson R1800. It is not an inexpensive printer, as the suggested price is $549 http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=53540919. I did a Google search and I couldn't find it cheaper, it is a new printer that was just released by Epson, so it may take 6 months for the price to drop. BYW - it takes 8 ink cartridges.
I do a lot of scrapbooking and it sure would be nice to have a lot of different fonts to use. Thanks for the help
You can go to any font site like nofonts.com and download one or more of they many fonts they offer. Download the font to somewhere you will remember like you Desktop, then move it into your fonts folder by going to your Control Panel then double click "Fonts". Just cut it from your desktop and paste it into the fonts folder and you've got it
how or where can i download a free software for scrapbooking i have several scrapbooks from my kids but all are 12×12 the big kind i wish i could copy and make it in to a CD! can I? and how or how do i create one on my computer?
Adobe offers a trial version of its Photoshop Elements graphics software. Corel offers a trial version of its Paint Shop Pro graphics software. And there is a free graphics software program called the GIMP, which I haven’t used but, it’s my understanding, can do much the same things as Photoshop.
You might want to investigate Picasa, Google’s free photo-sharing and editing program. Again, I haven’t used Picasa but it allows you to edit photos to a certain extent.
For your 12 by 12 scrapbook pages, you’ll have to scan them in, preferably using a wide-format scanner that will allow you to accomodate the entire page at once. However, you can use a regular-sized scanner and scan it in piece by piece, but you’ll need to “stitch” together (that’s the term they use for putting the pieces together digitally) using graphics-editing software.
You may be able to find a wide-format scanner that you can use at a local Kinkos. For a fee, you can scan in the scrapbook pages, then have them burned to a disk.
than changing the way your pictures look and scrapbooking on the computer? I guess what I am trying to ask is if you create a scrapbook page on the computer, is there a way to retrieve that page and enter it into a photo album you actually hold in your hands?
Yeah, all you have to do is print the page.
My husband wants to buy me a personal cutter for my birthday, but I’m not sure which one I want. He wanted to get me a Cricut, but then changed his mind to a Xyron that hooks straight up to your computer so you don’t need to buy cartridges, you can just use the fonts on your computer.
I’d like to know if you can recommend a personal cutter. Why would you recommend it, and pros and cons.
Thanks!
The Cricut Expression is a good choice. There is also a cheaper version of it, but that one is limited in the paper size it will cut. The Cricut Expression will cut up to 12 x 12, which is great if you want to do large cutouts to run across a 12 x 12 size scrapbook page. However, it is expensive and you do have to buy cartridges, but it’s definitely a time saver in cutting pieces together. It’ll give you more time to focus on the creative stuff, like how to design the page.
I have a bunch of graphics on my computer, that i would love to print out for scrapbooking. (I bought them, were sent to me in email) They are very small images, all GIF. (2.49 KB or 2,552 bytes) They are no bigger when I upload them than the size of my finger in height.
But when I go to print them, I have options to chose from. Either full page, 3×5, etc. When I try to print them wallet size, so that they will be closet to their actual size, the cuts off half the heads and arms.
Is there any way to fix this?
You are probably using Windows Picture and Fax Viewer to open and print those pictures, right?
Use another graphic program - like Paint which is in Accessories. You can even use Internet Explorer - right-click on your picture, select Open With and choose IE or Paint.
I saw this craft/scrapbooking stencil cutter on an infomercial. It hooked up to the computer and looked like a printer. You entered stuff on the computer and it cut out the shapes. It was really impressive and had a web site. I wonder if anyone knows it's name and site?
Are you thinking of the Cricut?
