Instead of pasting things onto the page, you line up different clipart along with a jpeg or gif of your photo, and then you can print it.

I really love the look of overlays however I am not sure how they work. I have downloaded various nice overlays from the freebies section for my own personal use and I can never seem to incorperate them onto my layout. What happens is whenever I move the layout on to my background it either turns completely black or white with black pixles around the lettering and is not transparent. I've tried everything I know how to figure it out and am still not getting anywhere. By the way I am using the old Photoshop 5.0.

I don't think Photoshop 5.0 supports transparent .png files, which would explain why they're not showing up correctly. You can try a newer program. It doesn't even have to be the full-blown version of Photoshop. Photoshop Elements, Microsoft Digital Image Pro and Corel Paint Shop Pro are among the programs that support the kind of transparent .png files that are typically used by the major digital scrapbook kit designers to make overlays.

my printer can directly hook up to my camera memory stick and print out the pictures but i dont want to waste ink, considering i have a LOT of pictures to scrapbook. Is there somewhere i can get digital camera pictures printed out for a very cheap price?

also, how much would it cost to start and buy ALL the starting materials to scrapbook. WHat do i need?

it is probably cheaper in the long run to have them printed then having to buy in cartridges for you printer…..

I would think that just about any place that develops pictures can make pictures from you memory stick or a CD….

I would suggest that you use your computer and go through the pictures and pick the ones you want printed….

if you have a Costco membership they are pretty reasonable for prints… I am sure that wal-mart would be pretty low in cost too….

i am very new to both. I was hoping someone could help me out with a technique. I have a patterened paper that I would like to be shown inside my text insead of just a solid font color. How do I go about doing that? Thanks!

Open your pattern in PSP (you can minimize this or just leave it) now get your new canvas ready. Click on your font tool and choose your font, size and choose your colour for your foreground/stroke that will be your outline. Now for your background/fill colour (which is inside) click on the box to your background/fill properties so a dialogue box appears and now click on the patten tab and then click on the arrow for the drop down box and your pattern will be in there so click on it and then press ok.
Now click on your new canvas to add your text and away you go.

Hope this helps =)

i just started doing my scrapbooking on the computer and i usually do 12+12 sheets but my printer doesn't print pages that big any ideas?

If I understand you correctly, your pages are 12" x 12" in size. If that is so, there is only one consumer printer that will print 12 x 12 borderless prints, and that is the Epson R1800. It is not an inexpensive printer, as the suggested price is $549 http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=53540919. I did a Google search and I couldn't find it cheaper, it is a new printer that was just released by Epson, so it may take 6 months for the price to drop. BYW - it takes 8 ink cartridges.

my question is if you buy the c d for scrap booking where do you go to get your finished 12×12 pages at. i don't want to put them on the internet, just in a personal album

If you already have a program, Costco prints them in an hour.

Creative Memories has an amazing program called Storybook Creator Plus. www.creativememories.com You can either have your 12×12 (or 8.5×11 or 8×8) pages printed for you in a hard bound book, or save the pages and have them printed individually. You can print them at www.cmphotocenter.com, they have reduced rates per page the more you order, or if you are near a Costco, you can have them printed there in an hour. There are great tutorials on using the software at www.creativememories.com under Shop Products/digital scrapbooking/online training/ then there are 3 amazing free webinars on Storybook Creator Plus called "Getting Started with SB+," "Beyond the Basics with SB+" and "Advanced Techniques with SB+."

I am already tired of cutting & pasting on it. I would like to continue this scrapbook by adding pages from some type of digital scrapbooking (that I design with some type of software & someone else prints). I don't want a complete bound book… Just somewhere I can design & order prints 1 page at a time. Any ideas?
I don't see 12×12 as a printing option anywhere… Is that an option?

I would suggest investing in a good scrapbooking software program. I find these have more options and are easier to work with.

Here are some of my favorite free sites that also work. You can download kits or just elements.

To print pages, I usually use http://kodakgallery.com

I do a lot of scrapbooking and it sure would be nice to have a lot of different fonts to use. Thanks for the help

You can go to any font site like nofonts.com and download one or more of they many fonts they offer. Download the font to somewhere you will remember like you Desktop, then move it into your fonts folder by going to your Control Panel then double click "Fonts". Just cut it from your desktop and paste it into the fonts folder and you've got it :)

how or where can i download a free software for scrapbooking i have several scrapbooks from my kids but all are 12×12 the big kind i wish i could copy and make it in to a CD! can I? and how or how do i create one on my computer?

Adobe offers a trial version of its Photoshop Elements graphics software. Corel offers a trial version of its Paint Shop Pro graphics software. And there is a free graphics software program called the GIMP, which I haven’t used but, it’s my understanding, can do much the same things as Photoshop.

You might want to investigate Picasa, Google’s free photo-sharing and editing program. Again, I haven’t used Picasa but it allows you to edit photos to a certain extent.

For your 12 by 12 scrapbook pages, you’ll have to scan them in, preferably using a wide-format scanner that will allow you to accomodate the entire page at once. However, you can use a regular-sized scanner and scan it in piece by piece, but you’ll need to “stitch” together (that’s the term they use for putting the pieces together digitally) using graphics-editing software.

You may be able to find a wide-format scanner that you can use at a local Kinkos. For a fee, you can scan in the scrapbook pages, then have them burned to a disk.
